Know the tide.
Beat your mates.

Tide times, wind and swell over your mark, and a catch log that fills itself in. Then start a competition in seconds, just you and a couple of mates or the whole club, and watch the leaderboard sort itself out.

Competitions

Fishing's better with something on it.

Every catch goes in with a photo, the leaderboard adds itself up, and nobody's marks are ever shared. Two ways to play:

With your mates

Biggest bass this month. First ray of the season. Most species over the bank holiday. Start one in ten seconds, send the code to the group chat, and settle the argument for good.

  • Two people or twenty
  • A weekend or the whole season
  • Heaviest, longest or most species

For the club match

Set the start and finish, add a weigh-in window, and require photo proof. Approve entries yourself if you want to. The results add up as the catches come in, with no chasing photos on WhatsApp and no spreadsheet.

  • Start, finish and weigh-in times
  • Photo proof and organiser approval
  • Only catches from during the match count

How a match works

Set it up in a minute. It runs itself.

Set the day, the start and finish, and a weigh-in window. Share one code with the club. Every catch lands in one photo pool, and the leaderboard adds itself up as the day goes on.

  1. Set it up. Name the match, pick the day, set the start and finish times and how long anglers have to send catches in afterwards.
  2. Share the code. Anglers join from the Competitions tab. Nobody's marks are ever shared.
  3. Fish. Catches go in with a photo. No signal on the beach? The photo's own time counts, so they can send it in at the weigh-in.
  4. Results. Heaviest fish, longest fish or most species, totalled as entries arrive. Entries close when the weigh-in does.

You decide the rules: photo proof required, approve every entry yourself, and count only catches from during the match.

TideMark competition setup: start 07:00, finish 16:00, weigh-in two hours, heaviest fish, photo proof required.

Today's tide, live.

This is the same tide engine that runs inside the app. Pick a harbour and drag along the curve.

Tides and weather

The tide, and what the wind's doing to the water over it.

Pick your stretch of coast and see wind, gusts, waves or swell sitting over the water, then play it forward through the week.

Every mark has its own page: the tide curve for the next few days, high and low times and heights, and a score for each day that tells you why — wind, sea state, how hard the tide is running, springs or neaps.

Named marks — forts, towers, buoys, wrecks and banks — sit on the map, with satellite view to spot gullies, reefs and sandbars.

TideMark fishing score: each day rated out of five, with bars for wind, sea, tide run, tide size and light, and the best hours.

Catch log

A log that fills in the conditions for you.

Log the species, size and a photo in a few taps. The tide, wind and sea at that moment are stamped on automatically. Location is stripped from every photo before it's saved, so a picture never gives your mark away. Export the whole log as a spreadsheet whenever you like.

Straight talking

What TideMark doesn't do.

  • No adverts, and no tracking. There's no analytics in the app and none on this site.
  • Your marks stay yours. Catches live on your phone unless you join a competition, and nothing in a competition shows where you fished.
  • It isn't for navigation. TideMark is an aid to planning. Check official sources before going afloat or onto the foreshore.

TideMark is in testing now with anglers around the coast. Testing costs nothing, and all we ask is that you tell us what's broken, what's missing and what annoys you.

On iPhone, install Apple's TestFlight app first, then tap the link. On Android, Google only opens the test to Gmail addresses we've added, so send us the one on your phone and we'll reply with the link.

Questions

Do the tide times work with no signal?

Yes, for the 55 harbours worked out on the phone from real tide-gauge records. Wind and sea forecasts need a connection to update.

Are the times in GMT or BST?

Your choice. The app shows local time by default, and can show GMT all year so it matches a printed tide table.

Is it for shore or boat anglers?

Both. The tide, wind, waves and swell are the same whether you're on the beach or afloat. Tidal stream rates for boats aren't in the app yet.

How does a competition work?

Anyone can start one, for a few mates or a whole club. The organiser sets the day, start and finish times and a weigh-in window, then shares a code. Everyone's catches go into one photo pool and the leaderboard totals itself. Catches count by the time the photo was taken, so anglers with no signal can send them in at the weigh-in.

What happens to my data?

No adverts and no tracking. Your catches stay on your phone unless you join a competition. Location is stripped from every photo. You can delete your account from inside the app, or from this site. The full detail is in the privacy policy.

Where do the tides come from?

Near a gauge, from that gauge's own record, fitted by TideMark: Environment Agency tide gauges under the Open Government Licence. Elsewhere, from the nearest ADMIRALTY UK tide station, or a global tide model further offshore. Every source is listed in the app's settings.
